Why do poops smell? |
|---|---|
| Is it because the air passes a smelly poo on the way out and picks up the scent?

| Its because not everyone gets a chance to see it before it gets flushed away so the poop emits odor in a last attempt to let others know what a good one it was. |

Poop can't smell, it hasn't got a nose. I have an idea, Captain Obvious, invent something that stops poop smelling. |

no idea matey......probably because it's just a pile of crap & if your body don't want it......it's gotta be bad...... or it could be that as we're all animals.....we should be doing it outside in our garden to mark our scents everywhere ???? who knows.....certainly not me...... |

| When we eat food it passes through our system and gets broke down in acids and juices. Depending on what was injested smells can very. Though the process gases are formed and the effects are smelly to most people. |

| Certain classes of organic (carbon-containing) substances contain other elements that are particularly offensive to the HUMAN sense of smell. The elements roughly in the order of
decreasing nastiness are: Sulfur, Nitrogen, and Phosphorous and combinations thereof. Probably the most familiar is hydrogen sulfide (the odor of rotten eggs) even though it does not contain any carbon. Others that you might be familiar with are butyl mercaptan C4H9--SH (skunk), and methyl mercaptan CH3--SH the chemical added to "natural" gas so that it is easily identified in case of a leaky gas main or a gas stove left on accidently. The various sulfur containing chemicals occur as part of the normal digestive processes in all mammals. The diet and the animal's particular digestive system determine the types and amounts of the very large number of possible odiferous substances. |

| Imagine a compost heap that is used to resupply a garden of needed nutrients. Often that compost is made of cow manure OR a combination of dead leaves and natural elements. Over time, everything rots and decays. The natural gases from the rotting are transmitted through the air. This creates "the aroma." That's what happens with poop from your body. The foods you consumed rotted, the excess turned to fecal matter, and the aroma resulted. |

| Poop stinks from the products created in bacterial action. Bacteria produce, sulfur-rich organic compounds including indole, skatole, and mercaptans, and the inorganic gas hydrogen sulfide. These compounds are sMeLLy.
Depending on what you ate, the bacteria can have a better or worse party. . |

| That is exactly why farts smell. They pass over the loaf you're baking and pick up its smell. The poop itself smells because it contains odor molecules called thiols. They're an organic chemical that's mainly comprised of sulfur. When you smell a fart, what you're actually doing is, getting a few poop molecules on the surface of your olfactory gland. Yep. You're sucking tiny bits of poop up your nose. |

| poo is waste and your insides can smell too, so i would say that when it gets into your bladder, the others food all combine together and so it make a poo. if you ate pasta and potatos, the smell and the odre smell combines together to make a scent of smell |
